Cartooning

I spent four years teaching preschool before making the move to fifth grade this past year. One of my go to strategies I learned is called cartooning.

In the most basic of terms, you create images or a social story of the student to help model and explain the skills you want the student to demonstrate. I learned this strategy second hand from another teacher, so I am by no means an expert or even properly trained on this method. It was just something I found successful, mostly when addressing a problem with a student. However, I imagine you could use it many different ways.

Here is a video of what the strategy looks like.

I am sure there is more information about cartooning out there. I would love to know if you have tried this strategy before and if it has been successful for you.
